Building Confidence and Enrichment Class:
This 4 week class combines training and enrichment exercises to build your dog's confidence and stimulate the senses. Think games, obstacle courses, puzzles...you get the idea! Handlers and dogs will rotate through stations that allow dogs to use senses like sight, sound, smell and touch to help cultivate problem solving skills, strengthen your bond with your dog and have fun while doing it. Fun and Focus:
Does your dog love to play but has trouble listening to you and following commands when distracted? Do they forget they know you or forget their training at the dog park? Let's work on changing that! Fun and Focus combines playtime for dogs 6 months and older with basic commands such as recalls, leash walking, sits and downs. Dogs must be known to be dog friendly and social with positive history in dog. Pre-evaluation required. Please note that this is not a class to work on socialization, this class is to strengthen commands. Class size limited to 6 dogs and owners must have a clicker before class start as we will use this as a tool with recalls only. Pooches and Pints:
A great brewery dog is calm, quiet, on leash, people/dog/noise tolerant, and out of the way. This class here to practice neutrality in a chaotic environment even while the handler is not 100% focused on the dog. This is a 4 week class that meets at a different dog friendly brewery or winery each week. Handlers will learn how to maneuver through crowds while carrying a beverage of their choice and have a calm and focused dog while spending a night out. Dog/Handler teams will also participate in obedience games, learn tricks, and have the chance to earn specialty Brewery Dog titles. Because we are going into public, dogs must be evaluated for class if we have not previously met them. Class minimum 2 and maximum 4 dogs. Taught by Jenny. Courteous Canine Manners Class
Does your dog need some help with canine life skills? Do they jump on visitors, bark for attention, counter surf and pull on the leash? Learn how to work through these issues with your dog and teach them additional skills like “going to your spot” (having your dog go to a specific place to wait while people enter and exit, while you are eating meals, etc.), calming techniques and curbing impulse control. Out And About Class
Would you like to take your pup “Out And About” with you and get compliments on their behavior? This 5 week class starts night one at our facility then subsequent weeks will be meeting at pet friendly stores such as Lowe’s or Home Depot. Handlers will learn how to train their dogs in proper entrances and exits through doorways and automatic doors, maneuvering through crowds, control on steps and elevators (if available) and confidence with noises and sounds. The 5th week includes either the Canine Good Citizen, Canine Good Citizen Advanced or Urban Canine Good Citizen test- everyone will take the test but if you want the official paperwork to register the test with AKC, it is an extra $10. Because we are going into public, dogs must be evaluated for class if we have not previously met them. Socialization Skills Class:
Are you unsure of how to introduce your dog to people and other dogs? Are they too shy, show a little reactiveness or over the top with excitement? This class helps teach you and your dog to become more comfortable with these meet and greets. You will learn about canine and human body language, how to use it to your advantage, how to set up the situation for success and calming techniques to use with your dog. Many exercises need two handlers, so having at least two people per family attend is required. Class is at a metered pace so we can build a better foundation for greetings. Class is open to dogs 6 months and older and limited to 6 dogs. Reactive Rover Dog Class:
Do you have a dog that reacts to the world around them? Do they act like every person or dog needs "stranger danger" protocol by barking, growling, jumping or lunging at the mere sight of a dog or person? Do their reactions make it difficult to take them places? This four week course will help you identify your dog's reasons for their behaviors and teach you handling methods and solutions to help work through them to make your pup more comfortable, calm and confident. Class size limited to 4 dogs. $210 for four weeks Monday nights: 6:30 - 7:20 pm November 4 - November 25 (full) *** Please complete registration form if you haven't completed one previously
Therapy Dog Class:
The goal of this class is for you and your dog to learn about therapy dogs and to see if your dog might be a good fit for therapy work! This 5 week workshop will explore the background of therapy dogs, proper etiquette for dogs and handlers, introduce your dog to common medical equipment such as walkers and wheelchairs and useful commands to use with your dog. Class size limited to 6 students and it is suggested but not required that each dog have two handlers- one to handle the dog and one to assist with interactions. **This class is open to any people and dog friendly dog with some basic obedience skills and teaches the pre-work to becoming a therapy dog or taking the test. Heeling/Leash Walking:
This 3 week class will use clicker training to build good heeling skills. It will incorporate games and other exercises to build up those skills gradually. Whether your dog needs a refresher to help with rally obedience, therapy dog certification, or basic manners, this class will build your dog's focus and improve leash walking.
